One record, self-edited within a boundary
Update your own safe fields directly. Bank, PAN, legal name and date of birth raise a change-request instead, so the stored record only changes once HR approves it.
Employee self-service software for India
Your team opens its own profile, applies for leave and sees the balance math first, punches attendance from a phone, and uploads its own documents, all against the same governed record HR and other modules read from. No spreadsheet copies, no waiting on a ticket for a phone-number change.
Safe fields save instantly. Sensitive ones wait for approval. The leave balance shows its math before Submit, not after.
Real released UI screenshots remain required before public indexing.Quick answer
Employee self-service software (ESS) lets employees view and update their own HR information without routing every small change through HR. Most ESS portals stop at a directory and a leave-request form. LekhaHR's self-service sits directly on the same governed employee record every other module reads from: an edit to a safe field saves immediately, an edit to a sensitive field raises an approval-bound change-request, and the leave balance shows its math before you submit, not after.
The self-service portal, one task at a time
Tap through five real tasks on the same shipped record: open your profile, apply for leave and see the balance math first, punch in from your phone, add a document and read your own leave ledger. Each panel is the schematic shape of the screen behind it, not a mock-up.
What self-service actually covers
Update your own safe fields directly. Bank, PAN, legal name and date of birth raise a change-request instead, so the stored record only changes once HR approves it.
Every leave request shows counted days, holiday and weekly-off treatment, and the balance after, before you press Submit.
Punch check-in and check-out from any mobile browser. There is no store app to install and no biometric terminal to queue at.
Upload a certificate once and it can also satisfy a pending leave or regularization requirement elsewhere, referenced by its attachment id.
Open the leave ledger and see the accrual, carry-forward, consumption and adjustment rows that produced today's figure.
A manager's team calendar shows you as unavailable on a protected or medical leave day. It does not show the kind of leave or the reason.
What self-service does not cover yet
Marketing claims follow the same release gates as the product. Two self-service tasks buyers often ask about are not here yet, and we say so directly rather than let a demo screen imply otherwise.
Privacy as a boundary, not a footnote
LekhaHR can capture location when an employee checks in or out and validate the configured office geofence. It does not track movement in the background, build travel routes or monitor employees between punches. Protected or medical leave stays private in the same way: a manager's team calendar shows you as unavailable, never the kind of leave or the reason behind it.

Self-service FAQ
Employee self-service software lets an employee view and update their own HR information directly, instead of routing every small change through HR. In LekhaHR that means opening your own governed record, applying for leave against a live balance, punching attendance from your phone, and uploading your own documents, all from the same record HR and other modules read from.
In LekhaHR's self-service portal an employee can edit safe fields on their own record (phone, personal email, emergency contact), apply for leave and see the exact days counted and the balance after before submitting, punch attendance check-in and check-out from a phone, upload documents such as a PAN card or certificate, and read their own leave balance ledger row by row.
Not yet. The Finances tab on your record shows your CTC for reference, display only. Building and running the salary structure itself, including a downloadable payslip, is Payroll, which sits behind the M4 release gate. We do not claim a self-service payslip today; the honest gap is stated here rather than implied by silence.
No, not yet. Self-service onboarding, meaning offer acceptance, preboarding forms and joining paperwork done by the new hire, belongs to Onboarding & Exits, behind the M5 release gate. The employee record shows the lifecycle state, onboarding, probation or confirmed, but LekhaHR does not run that workflow through self-service today.
They can submit a change, not overwrite the record directly. Bank account, PAN, legal name and date of birth are sensitive fields. An employee edit to one of these raises a change-request that waits for an HR approver; the stored value only changes once that request is approved, and no one can approve their own request.
Before you submit a leave request, LekhaHR shows the dates you picked, which holidays or weekly offs it excludes, the units that actually count under your plan (including any sandwich-rule treatment), and the balance after. The balance itself is an append-only ledger: opening balance, accrual, carry-forward, comp-off credits and reasoned adjustments, each traceable to its source.
Yes. Open LekhaHR in your phone's browser and tap check-in or check-out. A configured capture scheme can add punch-time location and an occasional audit selfie, but nothing is sampled between punches, and the punch works from any phone without a store app or biometric terminal.
Yes. Each profile has a Documents tab where an employee can upload files such as a PAN card, appointment letter or degree certificate. A document on the record can also satisfy a pending leave or regularization requirement in another module by its attachment id, so the same proof does not get uploaded twice.
No. Self-service scope is self by default: an employee sees and edits their own record. Seeing anyone else's profile requires a separate role and scope, decided on the server, and pay details stay behind a further permission that even most managers do not hold.
There is no free-forever plan. LekhaHR offers a 14-day trial, then per-active-employee pricing with no base platform fee and no minimum headcount. Self-service is included in every paid plan rather than sold as a separate add-on; the exact rate is on the pricing page and GST is charged separately.
When you need employees to self-serve a released payroll payslip, complete onboarding paperwork themselves, or run performance self-reviews or expense claims through self-service today, since Payroll, Onboarding & Exits, Performance and Expenses are gated modules we deliberately do not claim yet. Also when you want a kiosk or biometric terminal rather than a browser-based punch.
